Obituary for David John Wilson

David John Wilson
David John Wilson
With heavy hearts the family of David John Wilson announces his sudden passing at age 61.
David was born May 18, 1957 in Atikokan to Douglas and Ann Wilson. As a young boy he spent all his time living dangerously with his close-knit group of boys from Don Park.
David was always a hard worker; he started working at a very young age at the Atikokan arena. He worked at Steep Rock Iron Mines from the age of 18 until its closing in 1979. Following the closing of the mine he started working in the bush with his father at Foothills Sawmill. He went on to work with Richard Bowes, operating various machines and as a heavy equipment mechanic, and later with Rod Whalley (Whalley Logging) until his death.
He andthe love of his life, Debbie Wilson (née Arnould), have two beautiful daughters.
In their spare time they loved fishing and camping together. David enjoyed spending time with children, spent many years as a coach for Atikokan YBC, and had a special place in his heart for his grandsons. He also loved spending time with his dogs. David had a kind heart and was always willing to help others with any project, especially his daughters who relied on him often.
David will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 38 years, Debbie, their daughters Dawn Veran (Jaret) and Diane Hashi (Bashir); grandsons David and Adam Hashi. David will also be missed by his siblings, Derald Wilson (Carolyn) and Cindy Cameron (Joe); brothers-in-law Eddie and Randy Arnould; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. David was pre-deceased by both his parents, mother-in-law Doreen Arnould (née Ewen), and nephew Jamie Cameron.
A memorial service was held on July 12 at the Atikokan Legion. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Diabetes Society, or Atikokan General Hospital.
